During the 20th century, Western art music's center of gravity shifted from Europe to America. As American composers redefined music for their era stylistic trends emerged, each in its own way revolutionary. This program, named after a work by minimalist composer John Adams, explores a number of such trends through the chamber music of renowned American composers. Join us for an evening of works by John Adams, Samuel Barber, Morton Feldman, Conrad Kehn, and John Cage."New and experimental music remains a difficult-to-find commodity in Denver. That's what makes the Experimental Playground Ensemble, in residence at the University of Denver, such a valuable asset."
